Terms of Service

Formlabs service terms for quote requests and custom manufacturing work.

These terms describe how Formlabs receives quote information, reviews manufacturing requests, and communicates project assumptions. They are written for buyers submitting tooling, equipment, machinery, additive manufacturing, bridge production, or documentation-heavy custom manufacturing projects. A quote is not a guarantee that every submitted design is manufacturable as-is. It is an invitation to confirm scope, price, schedule, material, inspection level, and any customer-specific requirements before an order is released.

Quote information

Customers are responsible for sending accurate files, drawings, quantities, material preferences, revision identifiers, inspection requirements, delivery expectations, and any regulated-use constraints. If information is missing, Formlabs may ask clarifying questions or provide a quote that lists assumptions. Those assumptions should be reviewed before the customer issues a purchase order.

Engineering review

DFM comments, material suggestions, process comparisons, and inspection recommendations are provided to support a manufacturing decision. They do not replace the customer's responsibility to verify product design, regulatory compliance, final use, safety factors, and suitability for the intended application. When the part will be used in a regulated environment, the customer should clearly identify required standards and documentation.

Orders and changes

Production begins only after scope, price, schedule, and release details are accepted. Changes to geometry, quantity, material, inspection, packaging, or delivery date may require a revised quote. If a change is requested after work has started, Formlabs may adjust price and schedule based on material already purchased, production already completed, or inspection already performed.

Confidentiality and files

Formlabs treats submitted files as project information for review and manufacturing purposes. Customers should mark confidential details clearly and avoid sending controlled technical data unless an appropriate exchange method has been agreed. The privacy policy explains how contact and quote request information is handled.

Limitation

Custom manufacturing involves process variation, material limitations, and design-specific risk. Formlabs works to identify risks before production, but the customer remains responsible for approving design intent, use conditions, compliance requirements, and acceptance criteria. These terms may be updated as the service workflow evolves.
